Get Interviewed Series: Spotlight on Ashley Church of Ghost Pony & Ghost Pony Design
Jan 23, 2026
Some creatives don’t just make things look good...
...they change how a space feels and who it’s for.
Ashley Church is one of those creatives.
I first connected with Ashley on Instagram, drawn in by her aesthetic world-building and the way she blends public art with brand strategy. As a fellow creative building a business in the desert, I recognized the journey: pushing boundaries, upleveling your craft, attracting higher-paying clients, and positioning yourself in the rooms where your work belongs.
We eventually met at The Dez one afternoon, and the conversation flowed instantly about career, creativity, scaling work, female founders, and what it means to build a brand that feels both intentional and profitable. Ashley travels for work, but recently chose to plant roots here in Joshua Tree, which feels like the perfect backdrop for the next evolution of her world.
Behind Ghost Pony and Ghost Pony Design, Ashley has built a creative ecosystem rooted in visual storytelling, experiential design, and an unmistakable desert-informed aesthetic point of view. What began as a love for interiors and large-scale art has grown into two distinct creative expressions spanning murals, sculpture, branding, and digital identity across the Southwest and beyond.
From Creative Obsession to Public Art
Ghost Pony was the first expression of Ashley’s creative world born from one observation:
most murals weren’t designed for the space they lived in.
They were loud. Trend-driven. Temporary.
They didn’t speak to the architecture, the landscape, or the guest experience.
Ashley set out to change that.
Her murals and sculptural works are now recognized for their site-specific design, refined color language, and seamless integration into hospitality, festival, and commercial environments. Her portfolio includes collaborations with a major public art agency in San Francisco and a standout commissioned mural for the Do Lab stage at Coachella, one of the most design-forward festival environments in the country.
Now back in the desert, Ashley is expanding Ghost Pony into more large-scale sculpture, working with hospitality partners, and returning to festival spaces like Coachella and Stagecoach that value both experiential design and cultural storytelling.
The Birth of Ghost Pony Design
Ghost Pony Design emerged from a different lens: digital identity.
While building her own brand, Ashley noticed that brilliant women with strong ideas were struggling to translate who they were into a cohesive brand presence online.
So she reverse-engineered what made her own brand resonate - voice, visuals, consistency, storytelling and built a studio around helping others do the same.
Today, Ghost Pony Design supports:
✓ female founders
✓ real estate professionals
✓ estheticians & wellness brands
✓ coaches & creatives
✓ visual artists
✓ online service providers
with services that include:
→ brand identity & visual strategy
→ web design + landing pages
→ social media + digital assets
→ email marketing design
→ print collateral
→ creative direction for brand shoots
Her work sits at the intersection of design, psychology, and digital strategy, which has made her studio a magnet for female-led brands with taste, depth, and ambition.
A Tribe, Not a Template
Ashley refuses to design for the algorithm. She designs for alignment.
Her clients tend to share similar values:
creative, nature-connected, wellness-minded, aesthetic-driven, intentional, and a little rebellious.
They care about how things look, but also how things feel. They’re not afraid to invest in their vision, build brands with longevity, and play in both business and beauty.
