Curated by Jessica: JULY highlights

August 01, 2026

Hi friends,

July has been a month of reflection, momentum, and seeing long-term projects begin to take shape.

After months of planning, problem-solving, and countless decisions behind the scenes, some of the projects we’ve poured so much energy into are finally entered a new chapter.

Summer in the High Desert always brings a different rhythm, more visitors, more conversations, and more opportunities to connect with the people who are building, investing, and creating here.

I’m excited to continue sharing the people, places, and ideas that make this community such a unique place to be.

Thanks for following along and being part of the journey.

Get Interviewed – The Ginger Rabbit

It took me far too long to finally visit The Ginger Rabbit and now I'm wondering what took me so long.

What I expected to be a quick stop quickly turned into discovering specialty pantry staples, unique ingredients I'd never tried before, and plenty of inspiration for future meals.

For this month's Get Interviewed feature, I sat down with founder Macy Ring to learn how she transitioned from a career in higher education to opening one of the High Desert's most unique specialty markets.

More than just a grocery store, The Ginger Rabbit is a thoughtfully curated space where customers are introduced to high-quality Asian ingredients, emerging brands, and recipe ideas that make trying something new feel approachable. Macy's passion for sharing food, educating customers, and creating a welcoming community experience is evident the moment you walk through the door.

Businesses like The Ginger Rabbit are exactly why I love highlighting local entrepreneurs. They bring creativity, connection, and something truly unique to the High Desert community.

Recreational Cabin Conversion in San Bernardino County

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that every recreational cabin conversion follows the same process.

It doesn’t.

In this guide, I’m sharing real case studies showing how each property had a different history, different permits (or lack thereof), different county requirements, and a different path toward becoming a legal single-family residence.

What is the same?

  • Permit research
  • Property records review
  • Understanding what was legally permitted over time
  • Creating a roadmap before spending money in the wrong places

The reality is that the fastest path forward is usually determined by what already exists in the property’s permit history.

That’s why two cabins that look nearly identical can have completely different conversion timelines and costs.

I’ve created my Recreational Cabin Conversion Guide to help property owners better understand the process and make more informed decisions before moving forward.

If you’re researching a recreational cabin conversion in San Bernardino County, you can purchase the guide here.

If you’d rather have me evaluate your property and manage the process for you, Fill up this application form so we can determine if it’s a good fit and schedule a consultation.

Behind the Vision: Jessica Cure of JTTP Realty & Cure Designs

As a founding agent of JTTP Realty, founder of Cure Designs, and Planning Commissioner for the City of Twentynine Palms, I help clients navigate everything from land acquisition and development opportunities to renovations, permitting, hospitality projects, and investment properties throughout the High Desert.

After moving to the desert in 2020 in search of more space, quiet, and balance, I quickly developed a passion for helping others create their own path here, whether that means building a business, investing in real estate, renovating an existing property, building something new, or entitling and developing land.

My approach has always been about connecting the dots between real estate, design, development, and execution. I help clients identify opportunities, reduce risk, and create projects that are both financially sound and thoughtfully planned.

My areas of focus include land acquisition, development consulting, investment properties, luxury desert homes, short-term rental investments, hospitality projects, and real estate throughout Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms, Morongo Valley, and surrounding communities.

By day, I’m usually touring properties, reviewing plans, meeting with the county, or helping clients move projects forward.

By night… I occasionally moonlight as a raver, fueled by my love for music, art, and dancing.

Looking Ahead to August

August will continue to focus on sharing behind-the-scenes project updates, development conversations, hospitality projects, and educational resources connected to building, investing, and creating opportunities in the High Desert.

The Joshua Tree Buy + Build Guide is also continuing to take shape and is getting closer to completion. This guide will be part of my growing collection of educational tools designed to help buyers, investors, and property owners better understand permitting, planning, development strategy, and land use throughout the desert.

As always, I’ll continue sharing the projects, lessons, listings, and unexpected moments unfolding along the way, from new opportunities to the challenges and insights that come with building in the High Desert.
